January 2002: In cooperation with MSR-Consult and RAMBØLL, ShipTech was on the 28th January 2002 assigned by the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA, Southampton) to perform a Cost Benefit Analysis on Bulk Carriers.
The task for the ShipTech-team is to calculate the benefits of the implementation of approx. 70 risk control options given by previous steps in the ongoing Formal Safety Assessment conducted by MCA. The quantified result of the study shall be presented to IMO with indications of the effect on affected stakeholders at IMO's meeting in May 2002.

February 2001: Mr. Alex Hjortnæs presents the paper "Design of Cable Laying Ships" at a conference in Copenhagen "Cable Ships and Submarine Cable Laying".

October 2000: Dr. Kim Branner is appointed as member of the Special Task Committee VI.1 on Fatigue Loading under the International Ship Structure Conference (ISSC). The ISSC conference takes place in San Diego, 2003.

November 2000: Mr. Bengt Sangberg presents the paper "Cargo Handling System for FastShip TG770" at a conference in Copenhagen "Cargo Handling and Transportation Systems at Sea and Terminal Logistics".

March 2000: ShipTech's 15 years anniversary conference was successfully performed at Nice, 17th - 18th March, 2000. The conference program included:
State of the Art and the Development of CAD/CAM Programs for Naval Architects. Presented by Mr. Nick Danese, Design Systems & Technologies, Antibes.
Implementation of Office 2000, Outlook and Palm Pilots. Presented by Mr. Martin Schacke, Assist Danmark.
Goal Setting, Scheduling and Personal Efficiency. Presented by Mr. Jens Dalgaard, TACK Training International.
We thank Design Systems & Technologies, Assist Danmark and TACK Training International for making our conference to an exciting and unforgettable event.

February 2000: Tuesday 8th February ShipTech A/S and RAMBØLL A/S signed an agreement that establishes the formal platform for the promotion of the companies’ design services of Floating Production and Storage Oil & Gas Facilities (FPSO). Both companies have well documented experiences on their particular fields, where RAMBØLL covers issues related to the handling of oil and gas such as risers, mooring and top sides and ShipTech covers the ship related issues such as seakeeping, hull strength and ship outfit. The services will be promoted under a joint owned brand and will cover the complete design process from conceptual design, certification and detail design to commissioning.

September 1999: Mr Alex Hjortnæs is appointed to Technical Director at the board meeting of ShipTech A/S held in September. The board of directors of ShipTech A/S now comprises of the Managing Director Mr Bengt Sangberg and the newly appointed Technical Director Mr Alex Hjortnæs.

July 1999: ShipTech A/S Marine Consultants has been assigned by TeleDanmark Int. Marine to carry out the engineering work for the conversion of the 130 m long RoRo Passenger Ferry M/F Heimdal to a cable laying vessel with a capacity of approx. 4000 tons of cable. M/F Heimdal is one of the shuttle ferries on the closed Great Belt service. The work comprises of: Detailed Conversion Specification, Out Line Cable Machinery Specification, Stability Assessments, Ship Arrangement Plans, Structural Drawings and Assignment of New Load Line.

May 1999: As a result of the Memorandum of Understanding between FastShip Inc. and NASSCO Inc. for the building of four 260 m long 40 knots high speed RoRo ships of type TG770 ShipTech has been assigned by FastShip Inc. to prepare the contractual Structural Design and the Hull Outfit Engineering work. This work is scheduled to be completed at end of August 1999.

Februar 1999: The ongoing work on ShipTech's program package Rational Ship Design (RSD) is reported in a special RSD Newsletter.

February 1999: The development of ShipTech's 35m 40knots coast guard vessel is now complete. We are proud to announce that the objectives set for the work are more than fully achieved.

January 1999: A 40 x 12 m, 13 knots, robust and versatile RoRo Passenger Ferry for short sea operations has been developed and is now offered to ferry operators world wide.

November 1998: ShipTech presents a paper at the RINA conference 'Fast Freight Transportation by Sea' in London 30th of Nov. to 1st of Dec. 1998. The title of ShipTech's paper is 'Optimised cargo Handling System for Optimised High Speed Ocean Freighters'. The paper will also be represented in Shanghai, China, 30th.of March 1999. November 1998: ShipTech's versatile 35m 35 knots aluminium coast guard vessel is soon going to meet her sandwich sister. An on-going research work will reveal if FRP sandwich can reduce the hull weight without changing the structural lifetime. Both the hull and the superstructure are converted to FRP sandwich and the goal of the weight saving is set to 10 tonnes which is approx. 10% of the vessel's current light weight.

May 1998: ShipTech A/S is mentioned as one of the worlds leading design companies when it comes to structural analysis and advanced strength calculations by dr.techn. Jørgen Juncher Jensen, leader of Department of Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering, DTU.
