Laying cables on the seabed is a job which requires a great deal of
skill from the people doing the job, but it also requires the right
tools for the specific operation.
One of the most important tools
for cable laying at sea is the floating platform from which the
operation takes place, be it a ship or a barge.
If it takes
experienced people to carry out the cable laying, it also takes
experienced naval architects to design the cable laying ship or barge.
ShipTech A/S has the experience to do this.
Design of cable
laying ships is an area where ShipTech had specialist knowledge. Naval
Architect Alex Hjortnæs had a major role in the design of the C/S PETER
FABER which was built in 1982 for TeleDanmark, the Danish
telecommunications company.
Since 1985 ShipTech has carried out
more than 60 large and small design projects on cable laying vessels.
